All work and no play makes Silver a tired girl…

Being up at 4:20am three mornings a week is taking it’s toll on me.  I don’t sleep well at night, I try to go to bed around 9pm-but often I find myself waking up every few hours with the fear that I’ve overslept.  Actually today I did-but only by ten minutes.

I don’t particularly like my coworkers.   There’s a few that are friendly, or at least polite and cordial but there’s some that come across as downright hostile for me.  Being the new girl, I don’t want to complain about them to the manager-but going into work for the first few hours of my shift during the week is not pleasant, and downright uncomfortable on the weekends.  If it wasn’t for the coworkers though, I would enjoy my job.  I either need to find a totally different job, or try to get a transfer within the company.  Pretty sad that I’ve been there for less than a week.

I predict my paychecks will be fairly decent though-not from the regular pay though-from the overtime.  I’ve already picked up nearly seven hours of overtime in the past pay period (and it’s not over yet).  Since I don’t have much of a social life here yet, I don’t care about staying so much-though, it does get tiring.

I have no energy to write anymore.  Perhaps-since I have the next two days off-I will attempt to do some writing then-but I’m making no promises.

  • Sorry to hear about the stress your job is causing you, Sil. Try not to let your coworkers get to you. You can decide ahead of time that you won’t let anything they do affect your peace of mind. Don’t give them the power to get you down. :)

  • Give them time. Some people don’t adapt well to change or new people. Keep being friendly, hardworking and helpful. They may come around.

Chances are good that if you went to personnel right now and told them you weren’t fitting in, they’d say you hadn’t given it enough time, and perhaps even brand as a whiner or a trouble-maker.

  • I hope you get some rest and sleep on your days off! :o )

  • hope you get some good rest over the week

  • I hope things improve soon – you sound tied in body and spirit, dearie.

    Puss

  • Give it some time.. we all know its hard to transition in a new city or job.. it will get better.. get some sleep over the next few days off.. sounds like you need it.. :>)

  • I’m sorry to hear your co-workers are being that way. I had a job once that was like that. There was only two girls I got on with and they only ever worked one night. In the end I quit :/ I know people say you shouldn’t let other people rule your opinion on things like jobs but if you’re not enjoying it you have to change it, don’t you? I hope this isn’t the case with you and that after a few more weeks things will get better.

Enjoy your two days off :)

  • Oh, I’m sorry to hear this! When you spend a lot of time at work, I wish you enjoyed it. It’s all still pretty new for you, though. Maybe you and your coworkers just have to get more used to one another, more comfortable together. At least you can take solace in those paychecks!

  • Ick. Stay there for now and do what you have to do until you get the opportunity to find another job. I CANNOT deal with nasty coworkers. Especially if there are a few of them. Ugh.

Enjoy today off though! Hope you’re able to rest.

  • I cant imagine waking up at that hour. I have issues with my coworkers and manager and Ive been here for 6 years. I have no idea why I am still here.

Maybe looking for another position wihtin the company is the right idea?

  • I hope everything works out with your job, and if not – you know what? There is nothing wrong with looking for a new one right away. There are so many companies in this area that you have limitless options. I hope you begin to like it here as well. It took me a while to get used to the area, several years in fact, and even though I split my time between NYC and The Valley, I do consider it a great place to call home.
