We had a party for my friend’s nephew today, it was exhausting work preparing for it. My friend and I made a fruit salad, a veggie tray and we made a tray of rice crispy treats…and I made my favorite chocolate chip cookies.
However, the cookies almost didn’t make it to the party. I made the first batch the day before yesterday. It was late by the time I started the project and perhaps my brain was half asleep. I also didn’t have my mom’s ever helpful supply of baking paraphernalia at my disposal and therefore had to make due with the stuff I could find. Between the two little “issues”, I somehow managed to screw up the error proof recipe….but didn’t realize it until I got the first tray out of the oven and had a taste…of salt with just a hint of chocolate. Not good at all.
Luckily yesterday I was able to bake another batch…being extra careful of how much salt I included…and this batch came out much much better. I’ve never done that with chocolate chip cookies though, hence the reason I like making them. You really can’t mess them up-or at least it would be really hard too.
Ah well. Perhaps once I begin working again I’ll go out and buy some baking equipment so when I bake again I’ll be fully prepared.

As easy as chocolate chip cookies are to make, I still get lazy and buy the dough already mixed so that all I have to do is either drop a spoonful of the dough on the tray or just cut-n-bake. But there’s nothing like a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie right out of the oven. I don’t let them cool, I like to break them open and see that melty chocolate.

Salty cookies eh? The picture looks yummy, where those the actual cookies?
When I was like 8 I made a cake, and didn’t stir it enough – when it came out all the egg had gone to the bottom of the pan – my poor and wonderful mother actually ate a piece and claimed it was wonderful! :0

Okay. I don’t think I’ll be trying anything you cook. Not after writing a whole post about being allergic to mangoes and you coming along and telling me to enjoy eating them. Those chips in the chocolate are probably radioactive or something!
