Job Interview

An interview

Over the weekend I applied to two jobs.  Yesterday I received a phone call from my friend in NY telling me one of those jobs had called her house and left a message for me.  I immediately took down the number and gave them a call and as there was no answer, left a message.

As I did not receive a call back yesterday, I decided to call them again this morning.  I was sort of expecting to have to leave yet another message so I was taken aback when the woman answered the phone.  I introduced myself and she immediately knew who I was (very good sign).  At first things seemed a little negative, I had put on the resume that my tentative move date was July which was a bit late…however, I assured the woman that I could move much sooner…If hired I would only need to give my current job two weeks notice.

After that the conversation was much more positive.  She commended me on my cover letter, stating it was quite “charming” and next thing I knew we were setting up an interview for Tuesday morning.  So now, aside from packing over the next few days I will also have to do a bit of shopping in order to find something suitable for a job interview.  I will also have to get together a sample of writing as requested so I will be going through my blog and attempting to choose a few worthy pieces…oh, and of course come up with some questions to ask during the interview and get my references in order…(which is done actually, I just have to type them up).

I’m really excited about this interview, I think it was because of the short response time, the fact that the woman recognized my name as soon as I called, the positive comment she had about my cover letter and the fact that she wanted to get in touch with me despite the fact that initially she didn’t think I would be able to start soon enough for their needs.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!
