I’m still alive. I know that it’s been about a week-or more since I’ve graced you all with my presence and I’m very sorry about that. It’s just been one of those weeks where things are just out of sorts and my mind has been swept up in the craziness around me. Unfortunately too, the things that have kept me occupied hasn’t been blog worthy-or at least wasn’t until yesterday.
Our washer broke recently. It wasn’t a huge deal to me as I have quite a bit of clothes and managed to get my clothing washed right before the washer was deemed unusable (it wasn’t me, I swear!)…but anyway, this week the repair guy was suppose to get in the part needed to fix the issue and it was my job to sit by the phone all day, two days straight to wait for the phone call informing us that the part was in and the guy was on his way over. And of course due to the rules of the universe, the call didn’t come until yesterday when I was finally “off duty”.
Yesterday the repairman showed up (who, by the way seemed as though he should be a contestant on Beauty and the Geek) and fixed the washer. He left and my mother proceeded to put in a load of wash and head off to deal with dinner. After dinner she went back downstairs to switch the laundry to find, to our horror, that our basement had turned into a wading pool. Somehow during the repair session something got knocked loose causing all the water to gush into the wrong place.
Another call was hastily made to the repair company and mops and buckets were broken out in an attempt to deal with the unwanted pool. We definitely were not impressed by the surprise chore we had in front of us.
To his credit, the repair guy showed up pretty quickly and wasted no time in helping us get rid of the flood and fixing the washer yet again. Before he left, he told us if there was another problem we could call him directly-yes, you read that right. Fortunately it doesn’t seem that we will have to test that out. The whole experience put me in a crabby mood. I really didn’t want to spend my days off work stuck at home sitting by the phone, and I surely didn’t want to spend several hours yesterday cleaning up all that water but that’s life. I had an easy night at work so it balanced out I suppose.
Today will be spent catching up with my laundry…I already have a load in, and I have several more that need attending too. I really need clean jeans (I currently have three pair that fit…so as you can imagine they’ve been worn quite a few times this week) and my bedding REALLY needs done. Let’s see how much I can get done before I start my marathon work session (tonight 11-7, tomorrow 3-11 and 11-7).

Oh, ick! That’s no fun at all! And it really stinks that it ate into your days off.
I feel your pain about the jeans-I currently only have 1 pair that fits me and that’s only because I have a belt to secure them up…so I spent my Friday night (after 2 jobs) doing laundry so I’d have them clean today.
Oh, to have a maid.

Yikes..
That reminds me, yesterday the pipes burst in a school in my area and all the students get a couple days off.

Now see, you’ve just helped me feel a little better about having to use the complex laundry kiosk. Your ordeal wasn’t wasted.

What an annoying waste of time off! Laundry is a drag under the best circumstances, and these were not the best circumstances. Hopefully your washer will now serve you reliably for a long time to come.

Hey Silver…no worries about the meme ok…do it if you want to and if you have time….it’s meant to be fun not to add pressure to one’s life….I know all about shift work and trying to find balance with all the odd shifts…..I just thought you were a good candidate for this meme as I know you are a avid reader….cheers…and happy laundry….

We hate doing the laundry but not as much as we hate doing the ironing in this house. Faz on the other hand loves dirty laundry, especially for sleeping in. Maybe cats are smarter than we are and we should just not bother with all the soap powder and water?

At the very least, you got a nice repair man.

I’m glad you’re still swimming, although I hope it isn’t in the house. I hate broken washers and the trips I have to make to Laundromats until they’re fixed!

Ugh, I’m so sorry about your washer and the surprise pool.

those guys never ring when they’re meant to! i hate sitting by the phone cos it just never rings. it’s like when you sit in and wait for them to show up at the house – they’re always hours later than they say they will be grrr!
i thought i was the only person who had only three pairs of decent jeans that fit! i thought i was an oddball. thankyou!;)

I’ve been thru that with repair men.. their schedules just don’t jive with the rest of the world.

Sorry about the flood and no clean laundry.I have 2 pairs of jeans that fit right and it sucks when they are both dirty.

Oh man… what a nightmare! Sorry to hear about your flood and need for a marathon laundry session. That stinks! Hopefully you were able to take a break this weekend at some point and have some fun.
